How do I sign up for a class or workshop? top ↑
That's easy! You'll need to register first (see button at the top of each page - this is very simple and takes just a few seconds). On the Classes & Workshops page you'll see the various classes and workshops we offer. To book a two hour class just click on the 'Book Classes & Workshops Online' and this shows you all the various classes available. These are repeated at various times throughout each week. Just click on the class you want to attend and fill in the details. Classes are on a first come, first served basis (and thanks to our technical wizards you can see all the available spaces for each class). Full payment is required when booking on-line and you can use valid credit or debit card or PayPal account (optional). To book a full day workshop just click on the 'Book Now' button next to the relevant workshop you want to attend and just follow the simple instructions. If you'd rather book over the phone just give us a call on 01723 859060
Do I need a PayPal account to register or pay? top ↑
No you don't. For all classes and workshops booked online, or purchases from our online shop you can pay by valid credit or debit card, however you obviously can pay using your PayPal account if you want. Note that all methods of payments direct you onto the secure PayPal site so you can rest assured of full confidentiality
What happens if I am unable to attend - can I get a refund or re-schedule? top ↑
OK, we know ‘stuff’ happens - just ring us for a chat if you run into any problems. Generally though for on-going weekly classes as long as you let us know within 24 hours that you are unable to attend we will transfer your payment to the following week. For one off/day workshops where you have paid in full, please make sure you are able to come when booking as these are non-refundable. You can have a credit note to use against another workshop or even give your booking to a friend - just let us know. If we have to cancel for any reason we will give you as much notice as possible (a full refund or transfer your booking to another date)
Do you offer gift vouchers? top ↑
Yes we do. These make an ideal gift for your nearest and dearest. Vouchers are available in denominations of £12, £24, £36 and £48, to pay for, respectively, one, two, three or four classes of your choice. Alternatively these can be used towards purchasing items from our shop. Unfortunately these cannot be used or redeemed online but they can be used at the workshop to pay for a class or to buy items from the shop
How many students are in a class? top ↑
We like to keep our class sizes small, particularly the weekly ones. Generally there are 6 to 7 so you get plenty of individual attention
If one of your weekly classes is full can I go on a waiting list? top ↑
Absolutely, just contact us with what you would like to learn and in what session and we will pop you on a list for the next available space. Our clients finish their projects all at different times so an available space is never too far off
I want to make something that isn't on your current website. Can you help me? top ↑
We are always open to suggestions so if there is a specific skill you would like to learn please do contact us. We will always do our best to try and schedule a workshop in the future
What supplies / equipment do I need to bring? top ↑
For the majority of our classes we provide all materials/tools although you may find a basic sewing kit (a decent pair of scissors, an unpicker, pins, needles and matching thread) useful to bring with you. Otherwise bring yourself, your project and an apron if you are doing ‘painty’ things. If you need anything we don’t have, each workshop description will tell you what you need to bring
I haven't painted furniture before, how easy is it? top ↑
Don't worry. It's as easy as 1, 19, 43! No seriously, you need have no worries, we hold your hand every step of the way
Would I be able to leave my project between classes? top ↑
Just about everyone does and we’re happy to look after your item - but you do so at your own risk
Do I need a sewing machine? top ↑
Alas yes. We are unable to supply everyone with a machine. Please make sure you bring the relevant foot pedal and power cords. (an instruction manual would be good too)
Where is the workshop? top ↑
In a beautiful courtyard setting in the rural village of Ebberston, Scarborough bordering the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. The Workshop is well sign posted and has ample car parking. Just drive in and we’ll be there to welcome you. For full details and maps, click here
I'd like to come to the workshop for a day class and stay overnight - do you provide accommodation? top ↑
Something we may look into but for now we can recommend
- www.studleyhousefarm.co.uk - Family history centre with accommodation
- www.cliffhouse-cottageholidays.co.uk - Holiday cottages in Ebberston
- www.forgecottages.co.uk - Wilton, Pickering
- www.17burgate.co.uk - North Yorkshire market town, Pickering
- www.thecoachmaninn.co.uk - Snainton
Do I need a packed lunch? top ↑
Classes are just two hours (morning, afternoon or evening) where you are given a nice cup of tea or coffee, so you won't require anything else for these. However for the Workshops that are all day, you will need a packed lunch with you. Alternatively there are a couple of really nice public houses nearby that we can recommend:
- The Grapes Inn, Ebberston - 5 min walk away
- The Coachman Inn, Snainton - 2 min drive away
I'm looking for a item to do up - where can I find one? top ↑
We stock various items of upholstery that need some loving care and you are welcome to look through these. However if you want to source something yourself and don't have anything of your own, you could try these three local sources:
www.stcatherineshospice-nyorks.org 2nd hand furniture stores in Malton and North Marine Road, Scarborough
www.basicsplus.org A community and social enterprise organisation with a huge warehouse just off Seamer Road, Scarborough
Ken FI - The Basement, The Cornmill, Malton 07731 433092 - quality second hand goods
Do you give talks or outside workshops? top ↑
Yes we do. Take a quick look here If our schedule allows we welcome any such requests. Please contact us
