Beaded Jewellery

Come along and spend a very interesting day learning the art of beaded jewellery

Our tutor, Carol, has been teaching bead-weaving, beaded jewellery and embroidery for more than 20 years, so you will be in very safe hands!

In this workshop you will learn how to make a beautiful necklace using the herringbone twist technique as shown here in the top left and bottom right photograph. You will also be able to explore and develop texture other ideas for your own designs in the future

The fee includes a full kit of beads plus all the other accessories you will need for the day - the only thing you will need to bring yourself is a sharp pair of scissors (and of course a packed lunch!)

Mosaics

In this interesting class you will learn to create a suitable design, cut tiles to shape using tile nippers. Then you'll apply the tesserae (tile pieces) using the appropriate methods and adhesives before finishing off with grouting and then polishing and finishing your project

An Introduction to Mosaics

Make yourself, or someone special, this beautiful red-heart mosaic decoration (as shown in the top right hand picture)

In this full day workshop you will learn the basic techniques of how to make a mosaic from sizing and cutting the tiles through to the final stages of grouting and polishing, and how to use the cutting equipment properly and safely

This workshop will help you to go on and create a more sophisticated design

All necessary materials and equipment will be provided on the day (and please bring a packed lunch)

Warning: the making of mosaics can be extremely addictive!

Decoupage Mirror
"No Wheels"

This class has been designed for those who've ever fancied 'messing about with clay' but have never found the opportunity to do so, and for those who have had a go but would like to take their experimentation further. Scaring you with a wheel is something we don't do!

From trying your hand at sculpting, to experimenting with textures in porcelain; from coiling simple candle holders in 'grog', to highly decorated garden night lights in terracotta - there's something for everyone

We are lucky to have Katie Braida running this class - her extensive knowledge and enthusiasm of ceramics ensures that everyone achieves a finished 'project' to be proud of. Come for a couple of weeks, try something simple - when you do, we guarantee you'll be hooked!

All materials and equipment will be provided, in addition to the items being fired in a kiln

Stained Glass Making

Introduction to Stained Glass

Have you ever seen beautiful stained glass and thought I’d really like to be able to do that – then this is the workshop for you!

Spend an exciting day with our stained glass expert, Neil Kershaw from Borrans Glass creating simple light catchers (such as the ‘lovebirds’ opposite) or a simple three dimensional tea light holder.

Whether you are a beginner or more experienced Neil has many ideas to inspire. He will take you safely through the process and help you to complete your chosen project.  Amaze your family with your new found skill!

If you get 'the bug' for this, we will be adding further classes for you to take the art of stained glass even further

All materials and equipment will be provided on the day - just bring a packed lunch

Rustic Hanging Basket

In this great practical workshop you will learn how to create a lovely rustic hanging basket for your garden, kitchen or conservatory

You will learn about the properties of willow, how to prepare and manipulate it into a very beautiful but practical object for your garden or home. Take it home and start planting in it!

Willow Pig

Meet Petunia - the willow pig! Why not come along and make a fabulous willow pig in another great new willow weaving workshop?

Anthea will show you all the necessary steps so that you can make this great willow structure in the day. You will learn all about the various properties of the willow you'll be using as well as how best to prepare and manipulate it

The cost includes the wooden base so that you can 'plant' your pig in the garden (that's if you don't want her on display in the house of course!)
